We are digging out after the biggest snowfall of the season. With Saint Patrick’s Day in a couple of days, I wanted to share a cocktail recipe that I thought you might enjoy. If you are hunkered down like we are, you might want to make it today!
This is a Midori Melon Champagne cocktail. Although we make it throughout the year, we particularly like to make it for St. Patrick’s Day for its beautiful shamrock color, it’s like having the emerald isle in a champagne flute!
St. Patrick’s Day is an enchanted time – a day to begin transforming winter’s dreams into summer’s magic.

The Irish Kiss
4 oz Champagne
1 oz Midori Melon Liqueur
Green food coloring (optional, for sugaring the rim)
1/2 cup of sugar (optional, for sugaring the rim)
- If rimming the flutes with sugar, add two drops of green food coloring to 1/2 cup of sugar and mix well. Rub the rim of a champagne flute with lime and dip it in your green sugar mixture;
- Fill flute with champagne and liqueur.
- Garnish with a lime (optional)
This is a nice melon-flavored cocktail for anytime throughout the year. Rimming the glass isn’t necessary at all, unless you are making it as a novelty drink, say for St. Paddy’s Day, and you want that extra kick of green color.
